Constellation Donates $20,000 to Support CiTi BOCES Elementary Career Exploration Camp

CiTi BOCES is proud to announce a $20,000 donation from Constellation in support of Unearth Your Future, an Elementary Career Exploration Camp for students entering grades 5 and 6. The week-long camp will be held July 13–17, 2026, at the CiTi BOCES Mexico Campus and will provide students with early, hands-on exposure to a wide range of career pathways available in Oswego County.
Designed to help students uncover their interests, recognize their strengths, and connect learning to future opportunities, Unearth Your Future will serve approximately 200 students through interactive career “Dig Site” rotations, guided reflection activities, and a culminating Student Career Museum and Family Celebration. Students will explore careers in manufacturing, engineering, health sciences, energy, agriculture, technology, public safety, business, hospitality, and the arts.
“Supporting workforce development initiatives starts with helping young students learn and get excited about career opportunities available to them in their communities, which is exactly what Citi BOCES’ career exploration camp provides,” said Carl Crawford, Site Vice President, Nine Mile Point Clean Energy Center. “Constellation’s holistic support of workforce development initiatives spans all ages to help ensure that we can hire locally to staff our Nine Mile Point and FitzPatrick clean energy centers for the great careers that we provide here in Oswego.”
Constellation’s $20,000 contribution will help fund key components of the program, including instructional materials, transportation, meals, staffing, and student supports, helping ensure equitable access for students and families across Oswego County.
“Too often, students are asked to think about their future only when they get closer to high school,” said Brian Heffron, Administrator of Workforce Development & Community Relations at CiTi BOCES. “Unearth Your Future is about starting that process earlier, when curiosity is high and possibilities still feel wide open. We want students to see the incredible opportunities that exist right here in Oswego County and begin building a connection between who they are, what they enjoy, and how they may one day contribute to their community.”
By introducing careers in an age-appropriate, hands-on format, the camp helps students begin to see how local businesses and organizations shape the region while also strengthening school-community partnerships and building awareness of future workforce pathways.
CiTi BOCES is grateful for Constellation’s investment in student success and its continued support of educational experiences that inspire the next generation.
