Cosmetology students participate in project-based learning

Following weeks of studying, research and homework, students in the Cosmetology program at the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation recently tested their knowledge with a project-based learning opportunities.

After learning about the importance of skin nutrition, students in the program provided facial massages to members of the public. Each customer was first provided a consultation, where students would perform an analysis of the skin. Following the analysis, the student would begin the facial massage process.

“Many of the customers were parents, and they were all saying how pleased they were with the professionalism the students showed,” said Cosmetology Instructor Rose Hartman. “All the customers were relaxed and comfortable during the process.”

Following the exercise, customers were asked to fill out a survey, while students wrote a reflection to determine how their experience went and what they could have done differently.
