Students from the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation recently capped off an Underground Railroad unit with a presentation showcasing their work.
Throughout the school year, students in Darlene Ochsner’s class have been researching key people, studying geography and examining historical documents and text to learn about the Underground Railroad. The class visited the Harriet Tubman Museum and the Tin Shop in Mexico to gain a better understanding of the people and places that helped shape American history during the height of the abolitionist movement in the mid-1800s.
“The students spent a lot of time researching and putting together their presentations,” said Ochsner, pointing to tables of trifold display boards. “They did a great job.”
